This exceptionally versatile and efficient database
update utility will become one of your favorite tools
on the system.
The solutions you can design will astound you. Updating of fields in your databases that might have been difficult or impossible with standard tools becomes simple. Whether a onetime update or daily production processing, this utility does the job.
- Features:
- Ability to update any field in any Spectrum database
- Detailed data change report shows every field that changed with before and after values. Report also available in NoUpdate mode allowing preview before running in Update mode. Format of report similar to Summit data change report or detailed HIST command.
- Accurate updating of records based on matching a key value and up to 100 additional fields
- Updates all records that match the criteria, rather than just the first entry
- Data used for record selection is resident in the input tagfile
- Data used to update fields can be resident in the input tagfile or defined through the control card
as hard-coded values
- Update as many as 100 fields in a single run of the program
- Ability to add a value from the input file to the current value of a field in the database. For example,
add an amount to the year-to-date dividend field to correct a problem.
- Able to add new records to a dataset, for example, MEMO-FILE, ALLOCATIONFILE, HOLD-FILE
- Effectively allows you to update fields even when selection of records to update requires a MULTIFIND or MULTIDB command
- Can update critical items in a dataset, like Entry-Date in the HISTRY database or Group in the
Deduction or Allocation files
- Ability to use array items (control flags, filler fields, etc.) in the matching options for updates
- Allows updates to key and sort fields that normally cannot be updated in Query
- In Add mode all character fields are now preset to spaces to insure there are no ‘null item’ issues
if all fields are not specifically defined
- Update or NoUpdate mode
- Sample uses:
- Change ATM card status based on Member-, Share-, Loan-File criteria
- Excellent for creating new records in merger situations
- Set and/or clear multiple flags in one pass vs. running PFLAGSET once for each change
- Create draft cross reference records for accounts that are missing them
- Easily reassign ACCs for special promotions or consolidation, even with Spectrum up
- Update REPORT databases or test CU with information from live CU
- Batch creation of allocation records for new groups or IRA Required Minimum Distribution records for new IRA Plans
